The Indira Gandhi National Open University invites applications from the learners all over the country for admission to its Bachelor of Arts in Tourism Studies programme for January as well as July session every year.The programme code is “BTS”. It’s a three-year degree programme.

It comes under the School of Tourism and Hospitality Services Management (SOTHSM).The admission in Ignou BA Tourism admission is provided under Walk-In admission scheme. In this scheme, the learners can apply for admission to this programme in any of the two academic sessions.
The students who have completed 10+2 or its equivalent or Bachelor’s Preparatory Programme from IGNOU can apply for admission in both January or July academic cycle to pursue their Bachelor Degree in Tourism Studies.To become eligible for degree, the learner has to pass out all the required courses/subjects or 96 credits.
Programme Objective
The Ignou BTS programme has been designed to provide the learners with sound knowledge in the field of tourism. It provides an opportunity for the learners to pursue their career in the field of Tourism sector at the different level.
It aims at familiarizing the learners with varied aspects of Tourism, creating awareness about tourism, imparting basic training in organizing Tourism services and opening career opportunities.

Medium of Instruction
At present, the university offers BA Toursim Studies programme in both English & Hindi medium to make it easy for learners.
Eligibility Criteria
The candidates should be having qualification of 10+2 or BPP from IGNOU or its equivalent.
Fee Structure
The candidates need to pay the total fee of Rs.9,000/- for the complete discipline which has to be paid @Rs 3000/- per year during the admission and re-registration process.
Duration of Programme
The university provides the minimum duration of 3 years to the students to pass out all the courses of Ignou BTS programme. But the university allows the students to clear the programme within a maximum duration of six years.

Download IGNOU BTS Prospectus
The learners can obtain the hard copy of the “Student Handbook and Prospectus” by paying Rs.200/- in their nearest IGNOU Regional Centers. It is the common prospectus which contains the complete information about Ignou BTS programme and study pattern in IGNOU.
It also includes various application forms which may be required by the student during their studies such as Term End Examination, Re-Registration, Revaluation, Change of Study Centre, Course, etc.
The students can also order Ignou BTS prospectus via post as well by sending Demand Draft of Rs.250/- in favour of IGNOU, New Delhi to the following address: “Registrar, Student Registration Division, IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi,110068”. The prospectus will be sent to students only after the receiving of Demand Draft by the university.

IGNOU BTS Admission 2020
The eligible learners can apply for admission in BTS programme via online admission portal. Let’s discuss online methods of Ignou admission in BA Tourism Studies in more detail.
In the Online mode of admission, the students need to visit the Ignou online admission portal at https://onlineadmission.ignou.ac.in/. They need to register themselves at the portal and follow the general instructions to enroll them for BTS programme.

IGNOU BTS Syllabus & Courses
It consists of total of 39 courses with total number of credits equal to 99. 1 credit is equivalent to 30 study hours. The students who are pursuing this programme need to register themselves for the 1st and second year courses respectively, irrespective of their results whether they pass or fail.
