Ignou Post Graduate Diploma in Book Publishing (PGDBP) – The Indira Gandhi National Open University offers admission to its PG Diploma in Book Publishing in July academic cycle under the School of Humanities (SOH).

Usually, the university offers admission to its most of the programme in both January and July academic cycles but it is not the case with admission process for PG Diploma in Book Publishing. It is offered only in July session.

By introducing this programme, the Ignou wants to provide an opportunity for those learners who seeks to be self-employed aspiring/practicing publishing professionals. It will lead to them in acquiring new kills and upgrading their present skills in various aspects of publishing.

There are many more work opportunities in the field of book publishing which includes specialized editing, copyediting, and proofreading, marketing, distribution, sales etc. So, this programme will help the aspiring publishing professionals to acquire the marketable skills in the various areas of publishing mentioned above.

The Ignou provides the month-long training/ apprenticeship at a publishing house during the study of Post Graduate Diploma in Book Publishing programme. Also, the learners will get the small stipend as well along with the possibility of getting employment opportunity thereafter.

The training will be provided under the supervision of the Federation of Indian Publishers (FIB). The Indira Gandhi National Open University is having the tie-up with the FIB to facilitate this training programme. At the end of successful completion of training, the trainees would get a Joint Certificate from both IGNOU and the FIB.

Ignou Post Graduate Diploma in Book Publishing Courses & Syllabus:

The total number of courses in this programme are eight where first four Courses (1-4) are compulsory and courses from 5 to 7 are electives. The learner has to choose any two out of three elective courses.

The remaining MBP 8 Course comes under the category of compulsory courses. For studying this course, the learners would be attached to a publishing house where they would do a project. Later they will be evaluated for their project work.
