IGNOU MA Public Administration Syllabus & Courses

The IGNOU MA Public Administration syllabus structure is quite simple to understand for all the students who wish to join this programme in January or July session. The programme code is “MPA”.

It’s a two year programme.Therefore, the Ignou MPA course syllabus has been divided into two years.Students have to complete total of 64 credits in minimum of 2 and maximum of 5 years to become eligible for award of master degree in Public Administration.

How to choose subjects in IGNOU MA Public Administration 1st & 2nd Year ?

Ignou syllabus for MA Public Administration 1st year first year constitutes 4 subjects with the value of 8 credits each.All these courses are compulsory.

In the 2nd year, there are total of 7 courses with different credit value associated with them. Out of these 7 courses, students have to choose only 32 credits.

As you can check in below table, MPA-15 and MPA-16 are compulsory courses with credit value of 8 each. Therefore, it is mandatory for students to choose these subjects in second year.

The remaining 16 credits have to be chosen from optional courses.These are MPA-17, MPA-18, MSO-02, MPS-03 and MPAP-2 (Project Work).

Note: It should be noted that MPA-17  (4 Credits) and MPA-18  (4 Credits) have to be taken together if chosen by any student. Students cannot choose only one out of these two.”

The university recommends MPAP-2 (Poject work) course to only those students who are interested in pursuing further studies in Public Administration. If they chose this course, then they have to write dissertation of 10000-15000 words.
