Ignou Study Material – Once the student’s admission is confirmed in the university, the university sends the hard copy of the material to his/her address via post. It includes books and assignments booklet for first semester/year.
All the books for the complete programme are not provided to the students at one time. It is provided to the student as per semester or year wise. It is only given to the student once their submission of re-registration form and fee is confirmed by the regional centre.
Ignou Study material Dispatch Status:
For the student’s convenience, the university provides the link on its official website to check the dispatch status of their study material.
Whenever the new admissions are confirmed, the university update the link on its official website which shows whether the study material of a student has been dispatched or not.

Soft Copy of Ignou Study Material:
The students require the Ignou study material to prepare for upcoming term end examination. Also, they need it to make assignments.
Sometimes, the books are received by the students very late because of delay in the post or any other reason. So, they face problem in solving assignments.
To avoid such situation, the Indira Gandhi National Open University provides the soft copy of books and assignments as well. It can be easily viewed or downloaded from the university official website totally free of cost. It is available in the form of PDF files.
How & Where to download Ignou Study Material?
The IGNOU has launched a separate National Digital Repository at www.egyankosh.ac.in to store, index, preserve, distribute and share the digital learning resources.
These digital learning resources have been developed by the university to help its students to study anywhere. They just need internet facility to download the content.
Once downloaded they can keep it on their mobile or laptop for future use. They can also take print out of it.
Here are the steps to view or download Ignou study material…
Step 1: Students need to first register them at following URL: http://egyankosh.ac.in/register
Step 2: Please enter your e-mail address in the box provided on this web page and click on “Register” button.
Step 3: Students will receive an email containing a special URL. It will look alike as we have shown in the graphics below:
Step 4: They have to click on the URL and new web page will open up in their browser. Here they need to fill up their important information such as Name, Contact Number, Language, Password.
Make sure the password should be a minimum of six characters long. Below we have the image of registration form as of how it look like.
Students have to fill up this simple form and click on “Complete Registration”.
Step 5: Now, they are ready to log into eGyanKosh.
They should Visit the following URL “http://www.egyankosh.ac.in/password-login” to log in and access the available course material in the form of PDF files. It will look like the image below:
Step 6: In this last, I am going to tell you how can view/download Ignou study material after log into the Egyankosh portal.
a) First of all, type Course Code or Course name or relevant Keyword for the content you are looking for in the search box provided on the top right side. Then click on the “Search” button.
Now, you will get the list of links containing the course material you are searching for and for related courses as well under the highlighted text “Community hits”.
For example, I search for MS-1 course content and it looks like this
b) Click on the respective Course code/Course name link for which you are searching the study material.
c) In the next step, please click on respective blocks of your respective course to View or download the study material.
