“Is it possible to Join two programmes in IGNOU simultaneously?”

I have received this question number of times from the learners through email, facebook, twitter, google plus, etc.

Today I am going to answer this question in a very simple and easy way. I want each and every learner to know about the possibility of applying for two programmes  simultaneously in Indira Gandhi National Open University.

So, the correct answer is “Yes”.

Yes, the learners can apply for admission in two programmes simultaneously in Ignou. But it does not mean that learners can apply for any programme of their choice.

They can only enroll for Certificate programme of 6 month duration with the programme of one year or longer duration. Let’s understand this by taking a very simple example…

As per the university guidelines, “Students are not allowed to pursue two academic programmes of one year or longer duration either from the same University or  one from the Open University (under ODL mode) and the other from Conventional University (regular or face-to face mode), as of now, except add-on courses.”

For example, If a learner is pursuing Bachelor degree, Master Degree or 1 year diploma programme from Indira Gandhi National Open University, then he/she can simultaneously apply for admission in only certificate programmes of six months duration.

In case of students pursuing two programmes from Ignou simultaneously, the university will not held responsible if there is clash in dates of examinations between the two programmes taken.The university can not make any adjustments.
