The Indira Gandhi National Open University offers admission to its IGNOU BPP (Bachelor’s Preparatory Programme) in both January and July academic cycle under the School of Social Sciences (SOSS).

The medium of Instruction for this programme is not only English and Hindi but it is available in various regional languages. So, the learners who are not efficient in reading and writing in English can study this discipline in their regional languages as well.

The University offers admission to its Bachelor’s Preparatory Programme via distance education mode only.

About IGNOU Bachelor’s Preparatory Programme (BPP)

There are many learners across the country who do not have the formal qualification of 10+2 and attained the age of 18 years/as on 1st April and 1st October for January & July session respectively but they still wish to pursue the Bachelor’s Degree of IGNOU.

For all these students, the university has introduced the Bachelor’s Preparatory Programme so that they can enter to higher education stream. But the IGNOU BPP is not equivalent to 10+2 and also it has no credit weightage associated with it.

This programme is only valid for admission to Ignou Bachelor’s Degree (non-formal stream of BA/ B.Com, etc).

IGNOU BPP Online Admission

The interested learners can apply for admission by filling up an online application at https://onlineadmission.ignou.ac.in/admission.The applicants can download Student Handbook & Prospectus online at same official website under “General Instructions”.The students can also obtain the hard copy of prospectus by paying sum of Rs.200/- at IGNOU regional centre.

Then students need to fill up the admission form completely and submit it online along with the admission fee of Rs.1000/-. The fee has to be paid via online mode only.

The learners can also download the soft copy of prospectus from the University official website at www.ignou.ac.in

Eligibility Criteria

The learner does not require any formal qualification but he/ she must be minimum of 18 years to get admission in this programme.

Programme Duration

Minimum 6 months and Maximum 2 years

Fee Structure

Rs.1,000/- for the complete programme which has to be paid at the time of admission in the form of Demand Draft.

Age Bar

Minimum age should be 18years. However, there is no upper age limit
