For some programmes or courses, the university do organise regular classes. Many students attend them but since it’s an open distance learning university, so, it’s completely depends on learner whether to attend the classes or not.

However, it also depends on the programme which any student is pursuing from Indira Gandhi National Open University. There are few programmes for which students have to attend the classes and they should have minimum attendance to become eligible for examination. So, they have to visit their concerned Ignou study centre whenever required.

Is it mandatory to visit Ignou Study Centre for practical classes?

The answer is “Yes”.

If any student is pursuing programmes such as BCA or MCA which have practical components included in the syllabus, then it is mandatory to attend practical classes. Students must have 75% attendance in the practical classes. Otherwise, they would be ineligible to attend the term end examination.

Ignou is one of the biggest open distance learning university in the world. It is offering more than 226 distance learning programmes. Mostly those learners pursue their studies from this university who do not have enough time to do regular studies. The university acknowledges this fact and it hasn’t set up any mandatory conditions for students to come study centre for their classes.
